An outstanding two decades at Bowers Electricals for Project Engineer, James Rowland.
James joined Bowers in July 2004 having been encouraged by his uncle who worked here at the time to undertake 2 weeks of work experience, during his GCSEs.
Bowers spotted the potential in James and employed him under our Apprenticeship Programme during which he completed his Level 3 Apprenticeship in Electrotechnical Technology Installations (Building and Structure) followed by his Level 4 Advanced Apprenticeship in Engineering. During his career, James has moved through the ranks in different roles including Electrical Engineer, Team Leader and Transformer Production Manager.
When talking about his time at Bowers Electricals, James reflected on how the company has evolved over the past 20 years. From initially only selling refurbished transformers to building new transformers, developing the original and new Low-Loss transformers and Intellivolt Smart Transformers. James has continued to support the growth of the business.
Some standout moments in James’ career so far, include travelling abroad to customer sites in Holland and Ireland, building his very first transformer by himself (it was a little 125kVA transformer), and developing his skills and experience in the manufacture and refurbishment of HV Switchgear.
James’ current role at Bowers Electricals is Project Engineer. He is part of the team that oversees both the new and refurbished transformers and switchgear projects from when they get handed over by our sales team until they get delivered to our customers’ sites. There’s a good chance that if you have purchased a transformer from us, you may have dealt with James.
When he’s not at work James can usually be found playing skittles at the local pub or rocking out to heavy metal at Download Festival every June!
From everyone at Bowers Electricals, we appreciate all the support you offer and the vast knowledge you share with us. Congratulations on your incredible work milestone of 20 years, here’s to 20 more.
